Last week, I could feel myself breaking down mentally and physically from AI coding sessions.
With Claude Code, I regularly run 3+ sessions at a time. When I finish giving instructions to one, another is waiting. The gaps between tasks where I'd normally get a mental and physical break don't exist. There's always a terminal ready for input.
It's kind of addicting. It's easy to put in 12+ hour days because I'm getting big things done.
It's also exhausting because the work is very focused and mentally intense. I'm starting to see the wear-and-tear on me.
I've started doing things to slow myself down.
→ I limit the number of sessions I work at a time so there's not always something ready for my next input.
→ I've started keeping weights next to my desk so I can fill those 2-minute wait-times with a few reps or kettle bell swings.
→ I already take regular walks, but I don't listen to podcasts as much on those walks just to give my brain a break.
Anybody else experiencing this?
I think I'm going to start calling it AI exhaustion.
I'm not sure our brains were meant to process this much.
